So how did Patons parents react to virgil? Did they like him after they got to know him? Or did they despise him?

They loved him from moment one. 

Patton’s parents are exactly where Patton gets all his sweetness and goodness. Patton’s parents’ wings are beautiful, nowhere near that of their son’s, but beautiful all the same. They’ve both had plenty of people in their lives who wanted to get closer to them just because of their wings, and they never wanted that for their son. They’re the ones who raised him to look beyond the surface and love people for who they really were. 

So when Patton came to visit and was just glowing with happiness and started talking about this wonderful boy he met, they didn’t give two shits about his wings. They wanted to meet him. 

Virgil was nervous as heck, of course. He was convinced they’d take one look at him and it’d be ‘you’re not good enough for our son’ and that’d be it. 

Instead Patton’s mom came and gave him a great big hug, and Patton’s dad did too because the whole family are huggers, and they ate dinner together and had a lovely evening and Virgil couldn’t believe it. He thought maybe they were just faking, but during dessert Patton had to excuse himself for a moment and Virgil was alone with his parents. And he thought “well this is it, this is when the nice show ends and they tell me I’d better walk away” but instead they very gently tell him they’re so happy he and Patton met because Patton has never been happier in his life, and that’s that. And Virgil’s like, “…but…?” and they’re like, “No buts, we’re just happy you met!” 

So yeah. Virgil is very quickly adopted by their family. ❤ They love him.
