OK, suckling from a cow I get, but suckling from a tree? What’s the story behind that? Is it a willow that helps with pain?

It’s a Sycamore tree. 

The Sycamore tree is associated with Isis/Nut/Hathor at various different times during the Pharaonic period – all these goddesses held the title ‘Lady of the Sycamore’ at one point or another. Sycamores also grew on the border of the arable land with the desert, which the Egyptians associated as the border between life/death, land of the living/the necropolis, and thus sycamores are often found in Egyptian necropoli and painted in tombs (Deir el Medina is good for this).

This image in particular is Isis as a Sycamore tree with Thutmosis III (You can see her name at the bottom of the vertical register of hieroglyphs next to Thutmosis). Isis is shown feeding Thutmosis to give him ‘divine’ origins. Most Pharaoh’s claim their birth was ‘divine’ in order to legitimise their rule. By saying that Isis (working through his mother) breastfed him he is claiming that he was ‘born’ of Isis and that she is his mother; thus legitimising his claim to the throne. 

So that’s the story. In simple terms: Thutmosis III is sucking the titty tree of Pharaonic destiny to make sure everyone knows he’s King.

“Make sure everyone knows” more like “weird everybody else so much nobody would even dare question him because if he’d suck off a tree what ELSE would he do” honestly it’s a power move Thot-moses

No wait. He didn’t actually suck from tree, right? It is only a engrave/picture of him doing that as it symbolize him being a son of Isis… Or he really, physically, truely did suck it? (Which means that ttee gotta has tits or he drank sap) At this point I am confused…

Honestly for stuff like this, if it’s not something you’d do in real life it’s likely to be mythological or symbolic.
