Some people are so pushy. I was hosting tonight and told this middle aged lady that her party would have roughly a 45-60 minute wait. She comes back 30 minutes after I take her name, shoves herself next to me to look at the hosting iPad, points to her name and says, “It says seat right there. That means there’s a seat available. So seat me.” And I’m like, “No, ma’am, that’s the button that we press when we sit a customer at an OPEN table,” Because you know, we mean seat as in the verb, not the noun. She then has the audacity to stand on her toes and scan the entirety of the restaurant and point out all the available tables and demand she be seated at them. Any open tables were all being held for upcoming reservations because we were packed to the brim otherwise. I really wish people would understand how hectic and stressful service industry jobs can be. We really have little to no control. I wish people could be more sympathetic because most customers I’ve had to deal with are assholes.
