Virgil is such a great, complex character. Out of all the sides he is the one who holds the most mystery. None of us know any of his backstory. What was his life like before he appeared in Sanders Sides? We all have theories and headcanon’s but we don’t know for sure, and we may never know. Was he a dark side? Was he all alone? He is so interesting to me. He is not all good, but he isn’t all bad either. He stands on the border between them. He does not fit into Roman’s black and white, all or nothing thinking, which I think is one of the biggest reasons Roman didn’t like him. He is a force to be reckoned with but he is also the calm after the storm. He is irrational and illogical but he has been shown to solve problems multiple times with the way he thinks. He doesn’t fully fit in with the sides and yet, he does at the same time. He is not helpless or weak, but he needs reasurrance and wants Thomas’ approval of him. He is a protector and he does his job so well because he isn’t all good. Being all good wouldn’t allow him the power he has. Being all good wouldn’t allow him the fierceness and the venom that he can line his words with. He is okay with not being all good, but he doesn’t want to be the bad guy. He is very sure that what he feels about any given situation is correct, and yet he is insecure and doesn’t like himself very much due to Thomas and the others not liking him for so long. He can be too much sometimes but he can also be so soothing and say exactly what the others need to hear. I am rambling, I have been for a while, but I am just very passionate about Virgil. I have seen a few people make posts about him similar to this recently, and this just kind of poured out.
