Creative Block

rainbow-sides:

Summary: A period of creative block leaves Roman unable to move or speak, and the other Sides find him in this state for the first time.

Pairings: Platonic LAMP/CALM

Word Count: 4,646

Warnings: Loss of autonomy, non-verbality, mention of panic attacks, mention of migraines, mildly implied body horror, insecurity (it’s Roman), crying, a couple of uninspired puns.

Notes: This is based off of this headcanon post by @deceitfuldee, which I saw and immediately went !!!!! good angst right there, gotta write about it. I was originally going to try and focus on Prinxiety but, well, this is me, and it somehow turned into more Royality. Hope you like it! ❤ ~Martin

“Roman has been gone a long time,” Virgil remarked. He stirred some sugar into his coffee, trying to keep a worried expression off his face. “I know we’ve been struggling with our new video, but he’s been spending too much time in his room.”

“Now, kiddo, you know he does his best work when he’s off on his quests,” Patton replied.

“Okay, but we haven’t seen him in three days. I’m…concerned.” Virgil sat down at the table and sipped the coffee. “What do you think, Logan?”

“Well, Roman occasionally has locked himself in his room before, when we are suffering from a creative block,” Logan said without looking up from his book. “He usually returns within a couple of weeks, no worse for wear. It is probably best not to disturb him.”

“Hasn’t happened since I’ve been spending time with you guys, that’s all. You sure we shouldn’t check on him?” Virgil said.

“Tell you what, Virge, if we haven’t heard from him before tomorrow night, we’ll pop into his room and make sure he’s doing alright. Just know that he can get a little grumpy when we come into his room without being invited,” Patton said.

Virgil sighed. “Okay. Tomorrow night.”

“He has always been fine before, no matter how long he has been gone,” Logan assured him. “Really, I do not think you have anything to worry about. Roman will be fine.”
