Asking The Right Questions

Every time this comes up I answer it.

As a guy who roams the desert I see a lot of dead cows in various stages of decomposition. The Skull is the heaviest single part of the animal that is not easily broken down. The majority of scavengers that feed on a cow weigh less than 20 pounds. The head of a cow weighs that much or more and this is not able to be taken from the area of death unless something as big as a Wolf comes along but since we don’t have Wolves in the desert (only Coyote and Cougar) the Skull tends to stay at the site of death were the ribs, leg bones, spine and everything else is dragged away by scavengers. If you ever come across a skull in the wilds increase your search area by about a 200 yard radius and you’ll generally find more of the bones but usually not all of them.

Human skulls roll, and are more easily separated at the neck.

Um, just in case you were wondering.
