You can’t always show LGBT characters

Even Alex Hirsch Tried to but was immediately censored by Disney.

Sometimes, these ones are (alas) Just not right for such kind of representation. Don’t forget even if there are people like me, you and the authors themselves, who WANT representation for LGBT people, there are also a lot of moralist and homophobic people. And they are not Just Black sheeps. They are a very large part of the global population.

Which means you, as a cartoon maker, are under risk. Your anim house Can risk a lot being in the market with Clear homosexuality in their products. They can sue you, they Can put your franchise in failure.

Then… What Can we do? Just having patience. I understand your point. You want representation and you want that nobody Will threatening Who makes such representation. But time is still too young for this.

Not because of you, me, and kind and Wise people. But because stupid people are numerous and sometimes even very powerful.

So se have this sort of secret language. Authors are telling its LGBT character EXIST. And they are representing them. They wink at us, we know they are.

But Who want to sue them and put them in trouble can’t do it because, they have not a real prove those charaters are gay and they are showing to children the “gay way”. (Steven universe don’t, actually, show female characters. It shows Alien non-binary people Who Can be seen as male, female or none depending in Who is Watching them. This ambiguity makes harder to homophobic people [and their lawyers] to arguing the LGBT in the show.)

It’s a bit like the First Christian community, Who used to Paint the sator Square to Hide their religious beliefs. Strange similitude but still.

Let me Say this in the end:

-Cartoon makers Who can’t put the cartoon house THEY WORK FOR in trouble are not cowards.

-We should praise all of these attempts (because you have no idea of how many times these people try to have a Little bit of space. They try, I Can assure you. They try many and many times. But Kids entertainment is still very difficult to work with )

-The parenthood associations feel like they are in war. They prepare a class action even before having something to fight of. (It’s an oxymoron)

-One day we will have the LGBT representation in Kids entertainment we deserve, everywhere. I’m sure of this.

-Social changes like this can’t happen in a shocking way. We should have the patience to accept this is One of those topics where the change needs time. A “shocking” change calls a shocking reply. Always.

Let’s gain the freedom piece by piece, let’s wait for the people Who don’t understand to do it with their times and let’s enjoy these Little spaces of LGBT rights we Can have today, thanks to people Who want to make the world better everyday without starting Wars.

We still have a lot of freedom in socials like this, to make that drop a River, right? That’s what fandom is made for.
