Why Net Neutrality is Important
A lot of people have been asking: Why are people making a huge deal about this? Surely it’s just the fact of some websites going a bit faster than others??
It goes deeper than that.
The base of freedom itself stands on the fact of one thing: privacy and equality. Freedom of religion, freedom of expression, those all depend on equality, as well as privacy. (And basic morals, but we know our senators don’t have those.)
If they can take Net Neutrality, the privacy and equality of the very base of self-expression and work of many people, small start-ups that are trying desperately to do good already, websites that are against their views, these could all become slugs full of viruses and with the loading time of molasses.
If they can take the right of equality on the Internet away from us, what says they can’t take away something even more important?
Call your senators. Don’t fear-monger. Actually do something. Don’t let our generation be the last ones who actually knew a free internet.
