This is maybe an odd question but i’ve always wondered about something but it’s too awkward to ask…. do smut writers get off on their own fics? Sorry for sending such a weird anon

Interesting question. For me, I get off on the ideas before writing the fic. I need to find the sexiness in it, or else I can’t write it. I don’t tend to go back and reread my own fics, though, so while the fantasy might still work for me, the actual text doesn’t. 

Anyone else care to (over)share? 🙂

Most of my smut scenes are things I personally got off to. You can damn near chart my cycle based on when I write them. 

(There’s that old quote about “write drunk, edit sober.” For me it’s more like “write ovulating, edit PMS’ing.”)

And I reread my own fics a lot. I mostly write what I like, after all.
